Frank is a big kid -- he has this wonderful childlike enthusiasm and excitement for his work. Sometimes when things get tight or hairy the glee can wane, but it always seems to rebound. This energy just makes the process more fun for me. It is this enthusiasm and focus that makes his work impeccable and shockingly true to what I wrote. I know that when Frank comes on board to help out, we're all in good hands.
He can't drive at night however! When we were returning to the hotel from a day of recording the score to Apt Pupil, Frank was driving. It was dark outside and raining. Two scary forces were at work: My complete lack of a sense of direction, and Frank's lacking night vision. It was truly the blind leading the blind, stumbling luckily onto the hotel grounds.
Frank has a dark side to be sure, however. He has this thing for writing bizarre sick horror stories and recording them like little radio plays with music he writes. Check out Frank and his wife Tracy's weird CD productions called, "Little Evil Things". We all have skeletons in our closets I guess!
