John's Thoughts
This was the guinea pig project: my very first scoring "job." After film school, I wanted to try scoring things as a hobby just to see if I could do it. The 16mm student film that a friend made was "The Burrito From Hell" about a possessed demon burrito attacking a bigot foreman. I shot the film and edited it. There was so much incessant action (almost like a cartoon) that it was ironically harder to score than many larger projects. It taught me the art of "hitting" events in a scene and made me realize that I could do it. As with many projects at this time, I had a Roland D70 keyboard and one sound module. This made running out of midi tracks easy, so I used an old reel to reel tape deck to create more passes for more tracks.
