John's Thoughts
Before Suspects went before the cameras, the storyboard artist on the film (John Coven) was making his own short film called, "Night Train" and wanted to know if I'd score it. The pre-Suspects period was actually a super prolific scoring time for me in terms of the variety and numbers of little projects I was doing.
So John asked if I would score his film when it was done. I agreed. But I got busy doing Suspects for the next year. Hilariously, it took him so long to get the thing off the ground and completed, that at a final screening of Suspects, he was still finishing up the film. So I did the score with synth supplemented with a small student musician ensemble. It was a very fun score to do. It was a dark story that took place aboard a train car about a bum talking with a woman dressed as a boy holding a medicine bag with a kidnapped baby inside. Fresh off of Suspects it sounded like Suspects meets A Fist Full of Dollars. This too would be a fun score to re-perform someday.
